About

Lucky Day Ranch is located in the Southwest region of Santa Clara County. Set in the picturesque foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains and bordered by Watsonville Road and Burchell Road in Gilroy and CordeValle Golf Course in San Martin. Conveniently located approximately 28 miles South of San Jose off the Highway 101.

The 2,050 acre ranch was purchased from Eugene Selvage.  Selvage ran livestock  on the Lucky Hereford Ranch and was known for being the founder and CEO of Lucky Lager Beer.  Selvage was an avid golfer, who sponsored the Lucky International Open in the 1960’s.  He sponsored the Master Champion, George Archer, also known as the “Golfing Cowboy,” whom earned his nickname from working at the Lucky Hereford Ranch.

The Lucky Day Ranch was purchased in the 1970’s by Gary Gillmor, Managing Partner, as a Limited Partnership with a common interest of protecting nature, maintaining agriculture and hopes of a well planned residential  development.

After approximately 55 years, the future is now to create a master plan for this property to provide an answer to the critical housing shortages we are facing in the Bay Area. This is one of the largest contiguous properties left in Southern Silicon Valley. Currently the property is surrounded by multiple million dollar housing, however this property provides the ideal opportunity to create a multi-faceted housing project, including affordable housing, middle class housing, government employee housing and senior housing. There is a potential to create an eco-friendly development with a significant amount open space, trails, parks, medical facilities and commercial opportunities as well.
